Party Animal

Today was our niece Madeline's first birthday!  Graham and Nicholas and I were so excited to go to Peachtree City to celebrate her special day.  This year has flown by and I just can't believe that "Baby Mady" is already 1!  Nicholas had so much fun playing outside with all of the outdoor games Aunt Lauren and Uncle TJ had set up.  Then Nicholas discovered the sand and water table and all was lost.  He played with that for the longest time, making mud and a complete mess.  And of course not minding that he was covered in sand and water.  Nick took full advantage of the party food and Mom and Dad's lax watch on his diet (no dairy and no fruit or juice--doctor's orders) and enjoyed cupcakes, ice cream, and lots of cheddar cheese chips.  We even caught him fishing out juice boxes from the trash!  Nicholas had a wonderful time with his sweet cousins and I think Mady had a great time at her birthday party.  She dove into her cake like a pro!
After the party, we headed home and let Nick catch a quick nap on the way.  By the time we got home, it was time for party number two.  Our neighborhood HOA cookout.  It was great catching up with neighbors and Nick once again enjoyed playing outside with sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and chasing Jack the dog.  Graham was such a wonderful Daddy and husband (as always) and followed Nicholas around at both parties allowing me to visit and sit and rest.  :) And again, his dinner basically consisted of Doritos!  Yum!
We were all pooped after our long day of partying, but it sure was fun!

Memorial Day

Today was such a special day! The whole family went to the Roswell Remembers Memorial Day Service. Papa had the amazing honor of laying the wreath in the service along with one other veteran. We were all so proud to see him up there and to hear the speakers tell his story of the Franklin to the hundreds of people there! Nicholas did so well during the service and sat patiently with us until Papa laid the wreath. He loved waving the flags and the 3 helicopter fly over. After Papa's part was over, I took Nicholas to the back where they had army jeeps and humvees for people to look at. He loved sitting and playing in the Jeeps. After lunch Banks and Shane put on a great concert. Nicholas was so precious dancing in the grass and trying to tag along with the big kids. Afterwards, we all went back to my parents house to relax, watch Papa on the news, and have a cookout. It was a wonderful day with my family. I know we all wished that Gami could have been with us to see her husband honored but I know she was watching and was so proud too!

We are so thankful for all of the men and women who have served our country so that we might live with the wonderful freedoms that we enjoy today. Thank you Veterans!

Our new blog

I have been toying with the idea for a while now to start a blog of our family in order to record the daily/weekly happenings.  Time passes so quickly and I am so bad at journaling and remembering things.  It's already happened as I blinked and Nicholas will be 2 in 3 weeks.  I still can't believe it, these 2 years have passes so quickly!  Hopefully this blog will be a great solution to help me record those wonderful everyday moments, the super exciting times, and of course the challenges too.  We hope you'll follow along and enjoy our blog!
